Supporting Features

Healthix gives you the tools to effectively administer patient care from a range of data sources.

We are expert at integrating diverse clinical information systems, commonly used EHRs and care management systems to streamline the user experience so that participant organizations can improve patient care, while realizing greater efficiency.

Consent management

In New York State, access to patient information through Healthix depends upon obtaining patient consent. Your patients may grant consent, deny consent, or limit consent to emergency situations. While most participant organizations transmit patient consents electronically through a connecting interface, we also offer patient consent registration through Healthix Hosted Registration on the Healthix Portal. Healthix will work with your organization to customize a consent workflow that supports your objectives. To ensure the integrity of the patient consent process, we audit patient consents annually to safeguard patient privacy.

Care management

For Performing Provider Systems (PPS) that are part of New York’s DSRIP program, managing and updating care plans for patients who may have multiple healthcare encounters with providers can be challenging. Our expertise at integrating diverse systems and care management platforms helps brings together a composite view of the patient from organizations that are involved in a patient’s care – hospitals, long-term care, home care, behavioral health and more.  Healthix also supports the development of care plans which can be shared with clinicians, care coordinators and participant organizations.

User management

Healthix manages a centralized database of users for each participant organization.  We offer a variety of options for organizations to authorize user access. Healthix collaborates with organizations to validate and authenticate user identities to comply with New York State privacy and security policy. We facilitate a user registration approach by allowing participant organizations to request user accounts through a “self-service” workflow.

Healthix also integrates with access protocols such as LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) and AD (Active Directory), software protocols used by some participants for enabling validation of individuals in their network and passing those credentials to Healthix for access. This streamlined approach eliminates the need to create additional accounts or user IDs and passwords when users log in to Healthix. Ask about our customizable user management tools and how we can help integrate your systems.

Patient identity management

The key to providing safe and proper care is to correctly and accurately match clinical data from multiple sources to one patient. Healthix uses a complex probabilistic algorithm supplemented by human intelligence to gather a patient’s data from multiple sources to create a single Master Person ID (MPI). We deliver accurate patient matching, in real time – when clinicians need it.

Technology integration

Healthix supports a broad variety of standards for exchanging patient data. We can assess your needs and help develop and execute an appropriate technology integration strategy. We integrate with advanced models of data exchange protocols, such as HL7, CCD and C-CDA. Healthix also supports care coordination platforms and other health-related applications that are used in New York Health Homes and other models of care.

Reporting: usage and users

For participant organizations, our Healthix Organization Reports present an overview of usage for your organization as well as key metrics – for example, where else your patients are seen within the Healthix community (patient overlap); the number of clinical events that were delivered for your patients – by type – over a period of time; the number of patient consents accrued for your organization and more. These reports will help foster awareness of how your organization is utilizing health information exchange through Healthix and help you incorporate our services to support strategic initiatives.
