Staten Island organizations recently hosted their second annual community baby shower and maternal health resource fair to support new and expecting parents.
The event, also in recognition of Black Maternal Health Week, was hosted by the Staten Island Perinatal Network for Better Birth Outcomes and the Community Health Center of Richmond.
At the event, Dr. Henry Thompson, CEO of the Community Health Center of Richmond, spoke on the organization’s partnership with Healthix’s Maternal and Infant Health Equity Collaborative:
“Hi, my name is Henry Thompson. I’m the CEO for the Community Health Center of Richmond. We are also the sponsor for the Brothers for Mothers breastfeeding education initiative, and we’re so thrilled to be a partner with Healthix in the Maternal and Infant Health Equity Collaborative.
It’s so important that as we are serving our community, as we’re serving individuals, as we’re serving families, that we’re collaborating to provide the resources. So together, everyone wins, and we’re excited to be a key member of this partnership.”
The Maternal & Infant Health Equity Collaborative (MIHEC) is a regional network of healthcare providers, community organizations, and public health advocates united by a shared commitment to eliminating disparities in maternal and infant health outcomes.
