Healthix Alerts Now Include Messages from Psychiatric Centers

Beginning Monday, February 11, 2019

Beginning Monday, February 11, 2019, Healthix Participants will begin receiving patient care alerts generated by the 10 downstate psychiatric centers operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health (NYS OMH). For the first time, non-OMH Participants will have greater insight when their patients are admitted to, discharged from, or transferred among these State-operated psychiatric centers.

“This is an important first step to enhance care coordination between OMH and non-OMH providers,” according to Gerald Engel, Associate Commissioner, Chief Informatics Officer for NYS OMH. Planning to build on this effort, NYS OMH has begun initiatives to share behavioral and clinical health data available from the Mental Health Automated Record System (MHARS).

Subscribing Healthix Participants will receive alert messages generated from the following State-operated psychiatric center admission and discharge events:

  • Bronx Psychiatric Center
  • Creedmoor Psychiatric Center
  • Kingsboro Psychiatric Center
  • Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center
  • Manhattan Psychiatric Center
  • New York City Children’s Psychiatric Center
  • New York Psychiatric Institute
  • Pilgrim Psychiatric Center
  • Sagamore Children’s Psychiatric Center
  • South Beach Psychiatric Center

Each State-operated psychiatric center offers a range of care that include inpatient services, outpatient treatment programs (clinic treatment, day treatment, and Assertive Community Treatment), and residential services.

Healthix sends alerts to Participants who have the patient’s affirmative consent to access data from Healthix. If the Participant does not yet have that consent, Healthix will send Essential Alerts of admissions and discharges at OMH facilities only to the patient’s managed care plan, Health Home, or other organizations allowed by State regulations.
