INTRODUCING DIRECT ACCESS TO YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS THROUGH MY HEALTH RECORD NY We are excited to share a new development that will serve patients across New York State. Healthix has partnered with Hixny, the Capital Region’s public HIE, to launch My Health Record NY. We have also engaged CLEAR, a trusted and highly regarded identity management company to provide identity verification for patients in our region. The portal will launch in December 2023 and will only be available to adults 18 years and older. Healthix believes that this option will comply with the 21st Century Cures Act, giving patients access to their own records. Increasingly, we have patients who contact Healthix for this purpose. And while we expect to continue to receive these requests, we find it necessary to empower New Yorkers with an option to retrieve their own records whenever and wherever they wish. REPORTING A BREACH In the light of increased ransom attacks on health industry providers, NYS Department of Health communicated to all Qualified Entities (QEs), a need to remind the SHIN-NY community that any cyber-attacks (or other probable or actual breach events) experienced by our Participants must be communicated to NYSDOH and Healthix expeditiously. This will ensure that the data held and maintained by Healthix and the SHIN-NY remains secure and protected. Healthix regularly reviews the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) Breach Portal for any breaches submitted by our participating organizations; however this does not allow us to react early enough to prevent any negative impact to our system. Timely reporting of a suspected or actual privacy/security incident is required as per the executed Participation Agreement, as well as Healthix and SHIN-NY Privacy and Security Policies. Both sets of policies set forth minimum standards that shall be followed in the event of a breach or suspected breach.
