Todd Rogow view image As a large HIE, Healthix accumulates data from across the region and across many diverse facility types. Coding data from one organization may be different from what other organizations use. These misalignments can make it difficult to report out comprehensive results. For example, during COVID-19 there were more than 3,000 codes being used for COVID-19 testing. To send alerts, all these codes had to be mapped correctly. For HIE data to be optimized, there needs to be standardization and alignment. Healthix is taking key steps to improve data standardization. With terminology mapping, we are focusing on lab results followed by immunizations and diagnoses codes. We will begin with hospitals and large integrated delivery networks (IDNs) to establish agreed upon standardizations. It should be noted that the raw data brought into Healthix remains intact, with the standardization occurring upon retrieval of the data. Secondarily, Healthix is working with customers on eMPI patient overlays to identify and de-duplicate MRNs and patients. These two initiatives provide the foundation for standardization of ADT and HERDs feeds, the pursuit of NCQA Developer Certification and quality data services. The Healthix Concise app will automatically launch within the Epic user interface without the need to navigate outside their native electronic medical record (EMR). The Concise FHIR app for Epic EMR is now available through the Epic App Orchard for contracted customers to begin accessing data immediately. Healthix Concise will link to data housed in Healthix. When a nurse, doctor, or care team member launches Epic, the Healthix Concise app will automatically launch within the Epic user interface, keeping the user in their workflow without the need to navigate outside their native electronic medical record (EMR). Providers and care teams can benefit from receiving Healthix Alerts. Alerts enable intervention at the point-of-care, facilitate care coordination and provide key information about your patient’s or client’s encounters, even if it occurs outside your network. DATA EXCHANGE INCENTIVE PROGRAM (DEIP) COMES TO A CLOSE NYSDOH, with support from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), established the DEIP to incentivize providers and others to increase HIE adoption across the state. The program, which began in 2014, targeted Medicaid providers but grew to include other organization types, including behavioral health and long-term care. As a condition of receiving $13,000, organizations were incentivized to reach two milestones: signing a Participant Agreement and contributing a pre-defined set of data elements to the SHIN-NY through a QE. More than 500 organizations enrolled in the program through Healthix. The DEIP Program ended May 31, 2021. .
