HBI’s analytics engine will draw on the entire Healthix database of over 16 million patients to provide Healthix participants with a comprehensive view of their patient population. The new service will provide value to Healthix participants and support improved patient outcomes through early identification of patients at risk for serious health conditions. 
The service also has the potential to reduce avoidable hospital admissions, duplicative diagnostic tests and procedures, and optimize medical encounters. On a broader scale, HBI Solutions’ software will help to assess disease prevalence, volume trends, and outcomes measures across the Healthix population. 

OPKO’s BioReference Laboratories joins Healthix to integrate lab data of millions of patients across New York State

In a historic first for the state of New York, BioReference Laboratories (BRL), an OPKO Health, Inc. company and the nation’s third largest commercial clinical laboratory, serving 4 million New York patients, is partnering with Healthix and the New York eHealth Collaborative to integrate reference laboratory data into the Statewide Health Information Network of New York (SHIN-NY). This collaboration will both inform clinical care for patients, as well as aggregate data for healthcare trends and population management.

For the first time, retail Pharmacies 
participate in Healthix 

When a doctor prescribes medication for a patient there is an assumption that the patient will have the prescription filled and take their medication as prescribed. But sometimes that doesn’t happen, whether due to cost, compliance issues or other unknown reasons. For some patients, not adhering to a medication regimen can cause serious health issues. Now for the first time, pharmacy data, provided to Healthix by retail pharmacies will give insight into what prescriptions patients have filled or not filled by providing real-time fill and pick-up information.
Healthix is excited to welcome seven new retail pharmacies to our growing list of participant organizations:  CityDrug & Surgical (4 sites);  Town Drug (2 sites); and Belle Mead Pharmacy.

Healthix initiative begins to fill data gaps in effort to align with Meaningful Use
Healthix has mounted a data integrity program to enhance the data types currently available from Participants and to comply with New York State DOH requirements to acquire data that aligns with Meaningful Use.  New York State QEs are working with their participants – particularly hospitals and physician practices – to meet the State requirements.

“Closing the Gaps: Benefits of HIE for Care Coordination” 
a successful evening hosted by IBM and Healthix
 
IBM’s ThinkLab was the venue for the event, held on April 18, which included attendees from many of New York State’s leading insurance plans. The prestigious guest panel, led by Laurel Pickering, President & CEO of Northeast Business Group on Health, created lively discussion on the topics and challenges facing all health organizations and the beneficial role HIE can and should play in the future.
